About

Sharon Reutens Speech-Language Therapist and Counsellor

Sharon has 15 years of experience in Human Resources in a Multi-National Corporation before making a career switch more than a decade ago to work with children and teens with speech and language impairment and associated disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Dyslexia. She is a fully certified Speech and Language Therapist with the Allied Health Professions Council.

A mother of 2 young adults, her passion in working with children and adolescents in mainstream schools who may be struggling with language difficulties which hinder their learning and those who face challenges with social communication, stems from her own amazing journey of discovery with her own child with ADHD.

Fluent in English and conversant in Mandarin, Sharon is a qualified professional counsellor who has counselled individuals, and children with different life challenges, including but not limited to stress and anxiety, grief and loss, adjustment problems, parenting and relationship issues.  She employs an eclectic approach based on person-centered (Rogerian), motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral techniques, according to the needs of the client. Sharon is a certified Transactional Analysis practitioner.

Sharon's additional interest in bringing functional Math alive to children struggling with Math concepts and the complex linguistic demands of mainstream Math channels her joy in working with children in primary and secondary school at foundation, standard and G1 level.

She has provided training in various workshops and academic certificate programs throughout her career.
